Why do we use CCTV?
We use CCTV:
-
To prevent and detect crime, theft, disorder and antisocial behaviour.
-
To help protect customers, visitors, employees and property.
-
To investigate accidents, incidents and complaints where footage is relevant.
-
To assist the police, licensing authority or another authorised organisation where appropriate.
-
To comply with applicable requirements of our premises licence.
Our principal lawful basis for processing CCTV images is our legitimate interest in maintaining safety, security and preventing crime. Where applicable, we may also process footage to comply with a legal obligation.
We balance these purposes against the privacy rights and interests of the people recorded.
What information do we record?
Our CCTV system records images of people in monitored areas. Recordings may show a person’s appearance, behaviour and location, together with the date and time.
Our cameras do not record conversations or other audio.
We do not use facial-recognition technology or other automated identification. CCTV is not used for routine monitoring of employee performance.
How long do we retain recordings?
CCTV recordings are normally retained for 30 days, after which they are automatically overwritten or securely deleted.
Relevant footage may be retained for longer when it is required in connection with:
-
An accident or incident.
-
A criminal or regulatory investigation.
-
A legal claim or insurance matter.
-
A request by an individual concerning their information.
-
An appropriate disclosure to the police or another authorised organisation.
Footage retained for one of these reasons will be securely deleted when it is no longer required.
Who can see the footage?
Access to CCTV recordings is restricted to authorised company personnel who require access as part of their duties.
Where appropriate and lawful, relevant footage may be disclosed to:
-
The police or other law-enforcement agencies.
-
Licensing or regulatory authorities.
-
Insurers and legal advisers.
-
Courts or tribunals.
-
CCTV maintenance or technology providers acting on our behalf.
-
Other organisations where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
We do not sell CCTV footage or use it for advertising or marketing.
